Paphos Shopping

Paphos offers an impressive selection of shopping options that range from tacky souvenir shops standing alongside craft boutiques and the typical tourist markets selling handicrafts of the island.

Items for sale include good quality hand woven Cypriot lacework, crochet, needlepoint and embroidery which are all offered in striking colors and patterns. Still one of the oldest crafts of this region must be copper work; modern earrings, bracelets and age old plates and bowl are examples of fine copper work in Cyprus. Unique paintings are rife as is jewelry which is handcrafted in 18 carat gold and 925 silver. The ancient craft of pottery is still popular in Cyprus today and dishes, jars, vases, candle holders and decorative ornaments are beautiful purchases as well as antique wooden chests and furniture.

High fashion items in cloths and leather are readily available for purchase, and there are shops that you will recognise from home including a Debenhams department store and a Marks and Spencer. The main shopping lane which runs parallel to the beach promenade, Makariou III Avenue in Ktima; is the ideal tourist marketplace and you’ll find the market at the north end of the avenue.

If you need a new pair of glasses Paphos also has countless opticians where frames and lenses are often cheaper than they are in the UK. Stock up on Cypriot wines, local spirits and cheap cigarettes in the resort's supermarkets.

The Papantoniou supermarket is the main supermarket for Kato Paphos and it is located opposite Debenhams and next to the Peacocks store. Roadside parking is reserved for Papantoniou customers although it can be very busy during the main tourist season.
