What to see and do in Olhão

There are many historical buildings and locations to see in Olhão

The Municipal Museum, housed in a former sardine canning factory, has regular historical, cultural and arts exhibitions all of local and national content. The footbridge, by which one enters Portimao from the direction of Faro, is something to behold. It is considered one of the most secure and aesthetically pleasing bridges built in Portugal in the 19th century. There are also dolphin watching boat trips, boat trips to the caves and trips along the Arade river available for entertainment for everyone.

The marina, Marinha do Portimao, is attached to Praia da Rocha and presents a strip of bars, sophisticated restaurants and exclusive boutiques. There are also many inexpensive establishments, where the local speciality - charcoal-grilled sardines - may be sampled, complete with colourful harbour views.

Praia da Rocha, next to Portimao, is an exclusive and cosmopolitan beach resort that offers a wide range of activities, and evening entertainment, including shows, dinner and dancing and a casino.
