What to see and do in Albufeira
Portugal has a history combined of many cultures and religions and this intertwining is perfectly evident in this bustling tourist city.

The Museum of Archaeology in Albufeira is a must see. This museum maps each stage of the Algarve history in a separate room. Not only does this museum contain archaeological remains that were found in the roman city of Morgado de Lameria, the museum also contains pre-historic, roman, Muslim, medieval and modern age artefacts. If you’d prefer to be outdoors however, take a culture tour of the historic city center along the narrow and winding roads laced with monuments; where the city walls prove as a spectacle as well as the Castillo del Mar (Castle by the Sea), located on a spur of rock near Quarteira Creek that has been in ruins since the great earthquake of 1755.
Children are just as well catered for in this city with a wide variety of activities available. Six miles north of Albufeira is Zoo Marine, a stunning marine park with countless species of fish, marine animals and sea birds. Sharks, dolphins, seals and sea lion shows; the offers are diverse and many with swimming pools, rides and a 4-D cinema. Just north of Albufeira is Aqualand, which is not only the biggest water park on the Algarve, it also has the highest ride in Portugal.
Of course if you’re looking for an action packed day, many sports are available in Albufeira including golf, sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing. The surrounding countryside and cliffs act as perfect terrain for trekking and hiking and property is available to buy or rent in close proximity to all these activities.
