Golf in Albufeira
Albufeira offers some of the most outstanding golf in Europe. There are three main courses in the area and property is available to rent or buy at all of these or from only a short walk away.
Balaia Golf Village
opened in April 2001 and is an attractive course that was designed by Southern Golf. The sea is the backdrop for most of the course and has spectacular views throughout the 984 meter, 9 hole loop. The course is par 27 and is ideal if you’re looking to improve your iron shots.
Salgados Golf Club
is larger than Balaia Golf Village with 18 holes. The course is located behind Praia de Gale beach and has fantastic sea views from the driving range, putting green, chipping green and bunker area. The course is a traditional 72 par and is open to the elements so it requires a technically skilled player to achieve a good result due to the water hazards and strong offshore breeze. The course was opened in 1994 and was designed by Vasconselos and R Muir-Graves.
Sheraton Pine Cliffs
is the third golf course in Albufeira and boasts great beauty. The course was built in a pine forest at the edge of sheer cliffs and has sensational views along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. The ninth and final hole on the course is over a ravine known as “Devil’s Parlour”. This par 33 course was opened in 1991 and was designed by Martin Hawtree. The Sheraton Pine Cliffs club has plenty of amenities including restaurants and bars and a golf academy.
